Pepsi Unveils Social Vending Machines

I bet you thought buying a drink from a vending machine was one of the last untouched-away-engineering science things you could do. Well, Pepsi is out to change that with its spic-and-span Ethnical Peddling Machines.

That's right, PepsiCo is trying to make drink-purchasing a "social" (in the "interpersonal media" sense of the word) experience. Pepsi's new Social Hawking Machines, which debuted at this retiring week's National Machine-driven Marketing Association's Single Show in Boodle, feature touchscreen interfaces and the ability to "gift" a toast to a friend–or symmetric a stranger, as a "random act of refreshment." Check information technology out:

Even purchasing a drink is more interactive, because you can cabbage through choices and read nutritional information on the spot. The real "social" aspect of this vending machine is, of course, the ability to gift drinks to friends. Honourable tap the "Gift a Drink" button, enter in your information, choose a drink, and record an optional video message. Then enter in your friend's information, and they'll receive a text message with a code to redeem your drink at another mixer machine.

What's undecipherable is how — and if — you pay for the talented drinks. From what I've read, it seems like this gift is rid of. In fact, Mashable comes right out and says that you can open free drinks to a friend.

Excellent. Welcome to the early, where everyone just gives drinks to each other and never pays for Pepsi (and let's embody serious, Pepsi isn't deserving paying for) again.

All right, wholly right, unagitated inoperative. In that location's more: you can also generate free drinks to strangers equally a "random act of refreshment." The strangers WHO will meet your drinks could be in a city that's experiencing abominable weather, or from a university that's sensible North Korean won a title. How these strangers will be picked is unclear.

So yeah, forthwith straight drink-buying is getting whol multi-ethnic on you. The only problem, of course, is that complete of these gifted drinks must be redeemed at a Social Vending Machine. So unless Pepsi Cola manages to take these babies on every street corner in the incoming year Oregon so, I wear't really see information technology taking hit.

That said, if I see a Social Vending Machine, I am totally sending a Dieting Mtn Dew my way.
